On september 30, the Kick-Off Symposium for the Compilation of Characteristic Textbooks of Lixin University was held in Lixin Accounting Press. Vice President Gu Xiaomin, deans of all colleges, and directors of Teaching Affairs Office and the press attended the meeting. The symposium was presided over by Vice President Zhao Rongshan.

Gu Xiaomin put forward several requirements on the compilation of characteristic textbooks: firstly, the compilation of characteristic textbooks has to be integrated with the strategy of the university to develop itself to a high-level applied university; secondly, it should be international, attract and absorb advanced textbook compiling methods abroad and take into full consideration the influence of new situation and new changes; thirdly, the compilation of characteristic textbooks should proceed gradually in proper sequence, especially focusing on fundamental courses; fourthly, the university should provide corresponding fund support for the compilation.

Zhao Rongshan required all colleges to start compiling characteristic textbooks and required the press to make full use of resources and realize “four closes”, namely close to the strategic development orientation of the university, close to teaching and scientific research, close to students, and close to market demands.

Director Dou Hanxiu of the press reported the work of the press, introduced the history, features and achievements of the press as well as the publication plan during the period of “13th Five Year Plan”, and conveyed his opinions on the guiding thoughts, publishing significance, expected objectives, compiling conditions and guarantee mechanism as to the publication of characteristic textbooks.

Deans of all schools put forward precious suggestions on the compiliation of characteristic textbooks: based on the compilation of textbooks and teaching practices of their own colleges. All participants reached a consensus that the press as a platform should be fully used; characteristic textbooks should be compiled to feature digitalization and internationalization; original case-based textbook should be developed; the textbooks must be close to the reality, make full use of new media means and develop teaching resources like micro-lessons and micro-video.
