On the afternoon of navember 10, Vice President Gu Xiaomin received Ms. Helen Brand OBE, Chief Executive of ACCA (Association of Charted Certified Accountants), Ms. Liang Shuping, ACCA China Region Supervisor, Ms. Zhu Xiaoyun, Chief Delegate of ACCA Central China Region. The two parties had an in-depth discussion on the future development and cooperation between ACCA and Lixin. Relevant staff members from the School of Accounting attended this meeting.
Gu Xiaomin extended a warm welcome to Ms. Helen Brand and her colleagues on behalf of Lixin, introduced the current situation and future development plan of the university in terms of discipline construction, professional development and quality of student source, and declared the efforts to further consolidate the close cooperation with ACCA.
Ms. Helen Brand expressed her sincere appreciation to years of supports on ACCA programs from Lixin and her expectation to have closer cooperation with the merged university Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance. Afterwards, she introduced the global development strategy of ACCA and the key tasks completed by ACCA in recent years, and explained the latest development of ACCA and the recent changes of its qualification certificates.
Dean Shao 06 of the School of Accounting introduced the history of the cooperation between Lixin and ACCA as well as the selection method, enrollment scale, faculty and teaching modes of ACCA-oriented class in Lixin. Ms. Brand spoke highly of the single-subject passing rate up to 85%-90% of some subjects achieved by students of our ACCA-oriented class. Shao 06 hoped that ACCA would offer supports to promote the internationalized process of Lixin and offer more opportunities of overseas education, internship and exchange programs for students.
Ms. Liang Shuping and Ms. Zhu Xiaoyun introduced in details the advantages and experience of ACCA in the cultivation of students’ professional skills and improvement of professional integrity and expressed the wish to have in-depth cooperation with Lixin. By using its abundant global resources, ACCA would provide our students with more opportunities for oversea practices and professional exchanges and would jointly cultivate inter-disciplinary talents with high career quotient together with Lixin.
