On november 18, upon the invitation of the Lixin School of Accounting, Associate Professor Peter Secord, Deputy Director of Canadian Saint 03y’s University Sobey School of Business Department of Accounting, held a lecture on the potential factors that might influence financial statements and accounting methods in Songjiang Campus.
During the lecture, Professor Secord elaborated the origin, development and evolutionof accounting system in China and western countries. Professor Secord once visited China in the early 1980’sand witnessed the development of Chinese accounting system. By drawing upon the experience gained on key points, he analyzed the influence of different situations on the development of accounting from multiple dimensions, including system, environment, education, society, and culture. Meanwhile, by explaining “the development of accounting systems in African countries” and “the inflation of Zimbabwean dollars”, he triggered students’ thoughts on potential factors influencing accounting and financial statements.
