Recently, the 3rd “Great Wisdom” National College Student Financial Elite Challenge, hosted by the Students' Department of the Communist Youth League Central Committee and the Secretariat of the National Federation of Students dropped the curtain. More than 30 students from the 7th trader class of Lixin Hedge Fund Financial Engineering Test Center organized 12 teams to participate in the competition. After fierce competition, Zheng Kuangxiao Team from the School of Finance won the 2nd prize of Excellent Team in national division and 1st prize in Shanghai division. Other 6 teams, including Fu Sheng team from School of Accounting and Hu Shizhi team from School of Statistics and Mathematics, won the 3rd prize of Excellent Team and Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance won the Best Organization Award.
The competition lasted for five months and attracted participation of more than 18,000 students from more than 600 universities and colleges in China. The students participated in the competition by organizing teams, team members acted as trader, strategist and risk controller, respectively, competing on A stocks, Hong Kong stocks, and stock index futures. After school preliminaries, provincial semi-finals and national finals, the teams were ranked according to return on investment.
The “Great Wisdom Cup” competition aimed to guide the students to use their professional knowledge to analyze and formulate scientific trading strategies, improve the judgment to the financial market and their tolerance to investment risks, help them understand and master investment knowledge and operating skills, pay attention to practical economic issues, improve their professional quality, and thus cultivate high-caliber financial talents with strong theoretical and practical ability.
