On december 20 and december 22, Eskil Ronningsbakken, extreme balancing founder and international balancing artist from Norway, was invited to give a speech titled “Zen & Balance” at Lixin Pudong Campus and Songjiang Campus, respectively. He also exchanged with the players, coaches and PE teachers of the fencing team, taekwondo team and other university teams of the two campuses. Zhao Rongshan, Vice President of Lixin University, also listened to the speech.
Born in Norway, Eskil has traveled to more than 100 countries and regions, and can give an extreme balancing performance on high mountains, cliffs, skyscraper, running cars and motorboats. His performance has been reported or live-broadcast by almost all major media worldwide, including BBC, Discovery, CCTV and so forth, and enjoys an extremely high reputation across the world.
In his speech, Eskil presented his balancing skills, and shared his growth experiences, his pursuit of the extreme balancing performance and the challenges he had overcome in this process. He said that extreme mental focus had always been a secret to his success in each challenge, that he would be free of domination by fear, excitement or other emotions when he had eliminated all distractions and entered a fully concentrated meditation state, and that he would be able to present unbelievable extreme balancing performance only when he was under complete self-control. This focus is an indispensable mental factor in any sport, and it comes from his concentration on healthy sports and his discard of meaningless entertainments. In the process of continuously transcending himself, he has also understood the positive significance of this “balance” for his career and his life, that is, there are swings and roundabouts everywhere.
The speech greatly resonated with the audience, who were totally infected by his personal charisma of constantly pursing his dreams and rising to challenges. His spirit will encourage everyone to always perfect themselves and climb higher mountains during their growth.
