
Recently, the ninth “Road to Business Debate Cup” Business English Debate Competition, jointly sponsored by International English Education Research Association (IEERA), The CIOL China Association and Shanghai Science and Technology Translation Society (SSTTS), was successfully held in Shanghai. Two teams sent by the School of Foreign Languages, Bilibongbalabo and EIC, took part in the competition on behalf of SLUAF, and respectively won the second and third prizes.
The “Road to Business Debate Cup” Business English Debate Competition introduced the forms of Business Solution Presentation (BSP) and Case Study adopted by high-level business challenges in America, with the aims of providing a business environment platform for application of English language, strengthening the professional knowledge and skills needed by students in their occupational development, and exercising their abilities to deal with actual problems and challenges.
The preliminary contest of this competition was held on 03ch 24, and more than 20 colleges and universities took part in it, including Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University, Nanjing Normal University, etc. The competition takes actual cases from business practice as background, and requires participants to propose their views and solutions, make presentations and engage in related debates in English with regard to a business management topic encountered by enterprises in their development process. After on-campus selection, preliminary contest, quarter-finals, and semi-finals, two teams sent by Lixin stood out and won the second and third prizes. Meanwhile, SLUAF was given the “Outstanding Organization Award”.
