On March 29, the 2nd “Lixin Forum” was successfully held on our Songjiang Campus. This forum attracted more than 100 scholars from a dozen of countries and regions, including the US, the UK, Canada, etc. The opening ceremony of this forum was hosted by Wang Junhua, Vice Chair of the University Council and Vice President.
Li Shiping, Chair of the University Council, addressed the forum on behalf of SLU, and extended a warm welcome and sincere thanks to guests and scholars from all over the world.
President Tang Haiyan, delivered a keynote speech, in which he started with the historical background of Shanghai serving as a leader of China’s reform and opening-up and a pioneer of its innovative development, and the strategic opportunity of building first-class undergraduate education. After reviewing the long-standing developmental history and profound cultural accumulation of SLU in the past nine decades, he drew a blueprint for its promising future. On this basis, he talked about the four stages of talent introduction, talent cultivation, career growth and career success and the “1335” strategic measures taken by Lixin to construct a strong teaching staff and achieve its centenary goals, and expressed the sincere wishes of SLU to embrace talents and promote their career development.
Qu Xinping, Deputy Director of the Personnel Division of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, gave a speech on behalf of the commission, and highly praised the efforts made by SLU in implementing the spirit of Shanghai Education Conference, carrying out Shanghai’s Education Modernization 2035 and Implementing Scheme of Shanghai for Accelerating Education Modernization by 2020, building the advantages and brand of SLU and attracting professionals and elites from all over the world by taking the opportunity of being elected as a local high-level applied university.
At the opening ceremony, the SLU schools leaders briefly introduced the basic conditions of related disciplines and specialties, and exchanged ideas with scholars present. Director of the Human Resources Office also talked about the scholars hiring and cultivation system of SLU.
After the opening ceremony, this forum entered its academic report link. Depending on the division of disciplines and specialties, this forum had nine parallel sessions, covering all the major disciplines of SLU. At these sessions, the experts and leaders of various secondary colleges engaged in in-depth exchanges with scholars from home and abroad.
This forum was held at a time when the whole university is thoroughly studying and implementing the spirits of National Education Conference and Shanghai Education Conference and energetically advancing the building of a high-level applied university of finance and economics with distinct characteristics. SLU takes 2019 as the third year of teaching staff construction, conducts teaching staff construction as groundwork, and actively responds to the concerns of the society about teachers working in high-level applied universities of finance and economics through identifying, dealing with and seeking changes; by energetically developing human resources related to high-level applied education of finance and economics, it constantly optimizes the structure of its applied teaching staff, so that teachers can fully dedicate themselves to the teaching cause. The ultimate goal is to create an ideal atmosphere in which the most outstanding talents will compete to join the teaching force and make full use of their talents.
