Recently, the Ministry of Education has released the Notice of the Ministry of Education on Announcing the Filing and Approval Results of the Undergraduate Specialties of Regular Institutions of Higher Education in 2018 (Jiao Gao Han No.7 [2019]). Two new undergraduate specialties submitted by our university for approval, i.e. Data Science & Big Data Technology and Investment, have been granted, and the enrollment of the two specialties will start in this autumn. So far, the number of undergraduate specialties in SLU has reached 37.
To adapt to the new trends of talent demand in the internet era and the era of big data, the School of Information Management and the School of Finance, with the support of the university, have actively applied for the two specialties to meet the demands for talents specialized in big data technology and financial investment, and have conducted full demonstrations and preparations. The two approved new undergraduate specialties, Data Science & Big Data Technology and Investment, will help to further educate applied and inter-disciplinary professionals who can fit in with the needs of the internet era and the era of big data, and to provide talent support to the economic development of our country. During the construction of the two specialties, we will closely adhere to relevant national standards on education quality, strictly implement these standards in the whole process of professional education, and effectively guarantee the quality of professionals.
