On the afternoon of September 20, the 2019 opening ceremony for graduate students was held in the 1st-floor lecture hall in the Library of Songjiang Campus. Li Shiping , Chair of the University Council, Vice President Wang Junhua, Vice President Gu Xiaomin, and Vice President Zhu Yabing attended the opening ceremony. Also in attendance were the representatives of graduate student supervisors, heads of the School of Accounting, heads of the Graduate Students Office, and graduate students of 2019. The ceremony was hosted by Gu Xiaomin.
The opening ceremony started with the solemn national anthem. Li Shiping, on behalf of the university, extended a warm welcome to the arrival of the graduate students of 2019. He introduced the long history of SLU and put forward three hopes for all graduate students. First, believe in integrity and be honest in life. He hoped that in the future, students can practice the spirit of integrity, assume the responsibility of inheriting the integrity culture, and internalize SLU motto of “Lixin” (Faith) as their own professional ethics. Second, be surefooted and aim for the highest. He hoped that the students can carefully plan their future study careers, adjust the pace, set goals, be surefooted and work step by step to realize their dreams. Third, respect science and pursue excellence. On the way of pursuing studies, students should respect the truth, predecessors, rules, and the scientific spirit, abide by academic ethics, consciously resist academic misconduct with true and pragmatic noble morality, and accumulate wisdom and reserve strength to achieve an outstanding life.
At the ceremony, Gu Xiaomin announced the list of 2019 academic scholarship winners, and SLU leaders (Li Shiping, Wang Junhua, and Zhu Yabing) granted the scholarship certificates to the student representatives. Wang Fenghua, a teacher of the School of Accounting, Huang Jiawei, a graduate student of 2018, and Dong Shiliang, a graduate student of 2019, respectively spoke on behalf of graduate student supervisors, graduate students and freshmen.
After the ceremony, 120 graduate students waved the national flag in their hands, praised the youth, the university, and the motherland.
