On December 20, Aleiweilai Soujialun,Deputy Consul-General of Consulate General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Shanghai, and his delegation visited Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance (SLU). Vice President Gu Xiaomin, Head and relevant personnel of International Office and School of International Exchange received the guests.

Gu Xiaomin expressed her sincere welcome to Aleiweilai Soujialun. She briefly introduced the history, basic information and characteristic specialties of SLU. She said SLU hopes that with the support of the Consulate General, SLU and universities and institutions of Laos can cooperate in inter-university exchanges, visits of teachers, scientific researches, professional education and other aspects, with a view to attract more Lao students to study and communicate in SLU.

Aleiweilai Soujialun, on behalf of the Lao government, said that Laos and China are friendly socialist neighbors and countries along the Belt and Road. The Sino-Lao relations are not general bilateral relations, but a community with a shared future and extensive common interests. To build the Belt and Road, more professionals with an international vision and professional skills are required. As Asia's largest destination for overseas study, China has become a popular choice for Lao students, attracting more than 10,000 Lao students to study here annually. Studying in China has become an important link for the co-construction of a community with a shared future between China and Laos.

In recent years, 16 Lao students have graduated from SLU and returned to Laos to be engaged in the work related to Sino-Lao trade. There are currently 5 Lao students studying in SLU. Aleiweilai Soujialun expressed his appreciation and thanks to SLU for its efforts to educate high-quality financial professionals for Laos, and said they will try to establish a platform for SLU and universities and institutions of Laos to provide opportunities for the two sides to cooperate in education and scientific researches, and lead Lao students to study and communicate in SLU.

Through this visit, the Lao government has had a better understanding of SLU. A new platform has been launched for future exchange and cooperation between SLU and universities and institutions of Laos, and SLU has had a wider space to conduct researches on the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, carry out inters-university communication and cooperation and educate international students in China.
