A few days ago, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission issued The Notice on the Release of the Municipal New Engineering Research and Reform Practice Projects (HJWG [2020] No. 43). The project of Research and Practice of the Training Path for New Intelligent Logistics Engineering Talents in the Digital Economy Era, which was organized and applied by SLU and lead by Professor Wang Xiaoguang, was approved.
SLU will take this approval as an important opportunity to fully meet the requirements of constructing new engineering science, adhere to comprehensive and collaborative education, strengthen the interdisciplinary integration, and advance the construction to achieve substantive results. On this basis and taking the new revision of talent training programs as the starting point, SLU will keep an eye on the development trend of national higher education, further deepen the construction and reform of undergraduate education, implement new ideas, embody new elements, create new models, promote the construction of new engineering and liberal arts as a whole, and, therefore, improve the quality of talent training and the ability of serving economic and social development.
The construction of the new engineering science is an important part of the “Four News” Construction, namely new engineering science, new medical science, new agricultural science, and new liberal arts. It is the direction of engineering education reform proposed upon the new needs of national strategic development and the new economic development. In response to the challenges of the new-round scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, it actively serves China’s innovation-driven development and the implementation of major national strategies (such as “The Belt & Road Initiative”, “Made in China 2025” and the “Internet +”), accelerates the reform and innovation of engineering education, cultivates high-quality compound talents with strong engineering practice and innovation capabilities, and boosts the construction of a strong power in higher education.
