The meeting for launching the study on building an international financial center in Shanghai under new circumstances and the ceremony for recruiting research fellows for the Wu Daqi Office of Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance (SLU) were held at the Lujiazui Financial City on the afternoon of October 27th. The event was attended by over 20 people, including Advisor to the Shanghai Municipal Government Wu Daqi, Deputy Director-General of Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Statistics Xiao Yongpei, Deputy Director-General of the Shanghai Lujiazui Financial City Development Bureau Sun Yougang, Secretary General of the Shanghai Pudong Financial Promotion Association Guo Hui, and recruited research fellows and the participants in the study.
Wu and Sun jointly conferred letters of recruitment on the recruited research fellows, and Xiao, five experts in various industries as well as four SLU instructors (Shao Lili, Li Wenliang, Sun Wenhua and Ma Shiqun) came onstage to receive the letters.
Wu introduced the background for the study, saying that conducting the study under new circumstances would provide a more practical guidance as to what has to be done to enable the Pudong Leading Zone to lead by example and further bolster the capacity of Shanghai’s international financial center to allocate global resources, and that SLU’s collaboration with external teams in particular would boost the decision-making consulting outcomes. Then the heads of the four sub-topics of the study shared their ideas, and proposed their initial plans for the study and the next steps.
The study was jointly commissioned by SLU’s Wu Daqi Office, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Statistics, the Shanghai Lujiazui Financial City Development Bureau and the Shanghai Pudong Financial Promotion Association, with a focus on the obstacles to the development of the Lujiazui financial area. It is aimed at the development of a global asset management center, the development of the financial lease industry, and the establishment of a financial talent development system and a credit reporting system, based on thorough research and argumentation.
