SLU Delegation Visited Academic Partners in Czech, Germany and Poland

In order to further promote and deepen the internationalization of the university and expand the cooperation with Czech, German and Polish universities and scientific research institutions, Xie Chao, Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, led a delegation to visit the Czech Left-wing Research Institute, the Technische Universität München (TUM) in Germany, the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin (UASB), the University of Life Sciences in Warsaw (SGGW) in Poland, and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Poland from Nov. 10th to Nov. 18th.

During the visit to the Czech Republic, the delegation went to the Institute of the Czech Left for talks and exchanges. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic organized a forum on the theme of the 75th anniversary in cooperation with the Institute. The delegation was warmly received by Josef Skala, Director of the Institute of Left-wing Studies, and academic researchers. The two sides jointly held an academic forum on the theme of The Chineseization of Marxism and China's Reform and Opening-up. Xie Chao and Josef Skala signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on behalf of the Institute of Marxism of the university and the Institute of the Czech Left Studies respectively, which is the first cooperation agreement signed between the university and an overseas research institution.

Xie Chao introduced the development history and academic characteristics of the university, especially the operation and research focus of the School of Marxism and the Institute of Marxism. He said that this year is the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Czechoslovakia, and he would like to take this academic visit as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation withInstitute of the Czech Left and to promote common development, Josef Skala said that he highly valued and looked forward to the in-depth cooperation with the Institute of Marxism of the university, and hoped to promote the cooperation between the two sides in the areas of academic research and educational exchanges, to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results, and to contribute to the development of academic research and education between China and Czechoslovakia. Josef Skala expressed that he highly valued and looked forward to in-depth cooperation with the Institute of Marxism of the University, hoping to promote cooperation in academic research, educational exchanges and other aspects of the two sides to realize mutual benefit and win-win situation, and to contribute to the friendship and cooperation between China and Czech Republic.

Mr. Wan Jincheng, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the School of Marxism, gave an academic report on The Chineseization of Marxism and China's Reform and Opening-up. Participants had academic exchanges on issues related to the innovation and development of Marxist theory, China's foreign relations in the new era, and the development and progress of China's society and people's livelihood. During the visit in Germany, the delegation visited the Technical University of Munich and the University of Applied Sciences for Engineering and Economics in Berlin.


The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is a long-established and globally recognized top research university, ranked 28th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, and has produced 19 Nobel Prize winners. The delegation had a meeting with Rudi Zagst, Director of the Department of Mathematics and Finance, and Aleksey Min, Professor of the Department of Mathematics and Finance of TUM. The two sides had an in-depth discussion on the model of fintech talent cultivation, exchange student program, master's degree program, faculty exchange visits and other matters and reached a preliminary intention. After the meeting, the delegation was also invited to visit the important teaching places and service facilities of TUM.

The University of Applied Sciences Berlin is the largest state university of applied sciences in Berlin, Germany, and one of the strongest universities of applied sciences in Germany. Since the establishment of the cooperative relationship between the two universities in 2011, remarkable results have been achieved in student training and academic exchanges. During the meeting, both sides reviewed the results of past cooperation and reached a broad consensus on deepening the student exchange program, master's degree program and joint declaration of scientific research projects. Xie Chao said that the two universities have a good foundation for cooperation and hope to open a new chapter of cooperation in multiple fields and levels to promote the further development of academic research, educational exchanges and talent cultivation.

During the visit to Germany, the delegation also visited the representatives of our alumni studying and working in Germany, who shared the situation of their study and employment in Germany, and recalled the joyful time of studying in our alma mater as well as the unforgettable friendship between teachers and students. Xie Chao listened to the opinions and suggestions of the alumni on talent cultivation, internationalization and management of the alma mater, expressed the deep concern and good wishes of the alma mater for them, and encouraged them to uphold the motto of SLU, cherish the opportunity of overseas study, and strive to grow up to be outstanding talents with international competitiveness. The delegation also listened to the views of the alumni on the establishment of overseas alumni associations and other related issues.

During the visit to Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW), the delegation was received by Marta Mendel, Vice Rector for International Affairs, Katarzyna Specjalska, Director of the International Exchange Office, and relevant staff. Both sides introduced the latest development strategy of the university and international cooperation, and agreed that the two universities have a broad prospect for cooperation and are willing to promote close cooperation in joint academic research programs, joint cultivation of academic teams, exchange of visits and joint training of teachers and students. The two universities renewed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation, and will further deepen cooperation in many areas. The delegation also visited the university's library, international student dormitory and other campus facilities.


During the visit to Poland, the delegation also called on the Chinese Embassy in Poland, where Yi Jun, Counselor of Science and Technology Education Department, and Zhang Yuchuan, Second Secretary of Science and Technology Education Department, met with the delegation. Both sides discussed and exchanged views on Sino-Polish educational cooperation, Xie Chao said that our university has established solid cooperative relations with Warsaw University of Life Sciences, University of Łódź and other Polish universities, and has applied for and been approved for 6 Erasmus+ Teacher-Student Mobility Programs with Kraków University of Economics. In addition, the university has also made positive efforts in promoting the mobility of young people between the two countries, insisted on sending international students to Polish universities and colleges, and recruited and cultivated more than 50 Polish international students, and is willing to continue to play an active role in deepening the Sino-Polish cooperation in education, and to promote the bilateral humanistic exchanges to a new level.

The university has always been adhering to the concept of internationalization of education and actively responding to the national strategy of deepening international exchanges and cooperation. Under the initiative of General Secretary  10,000 in 3 years, double in Europe, this visit has opened up the cooperation between the university and Czech scientific research institutions, upgraded and consolidated the cooperation with German and Polish institutions, further strengthened the results of cooperation, expanded and densified the network of international cooperation, laid a solid foundation for the comprehensive enhancement of the level of internationalization of the university and the continuous strengthening of international influence, and also provided a new platform for the exchange and cooperation between Chinese and European students. It has laid a solid foundation for the comprehensive improvement of the internationalization of our university and the strengthening of our international influence, as well as provided a new platform and opportunity for the exchange and cooperation between Chinese and European students.
