On the morning of 30 June, Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance kicked off the 2025 Summer Camp for Overseas Youth with an opening ceremony held on the Shangchuan Road campus. Liu Yongqin, Vice President, delivered a welcome address. Heads of relevant departments and schools, together with 80 teachers and students from 13 countries—including the United States, Denmark, Poland, Russia, New Zealand and Hungary—attended the event, which was chaired by Yao Jie, Director of the International Office.

In her speech, Vice President Liu warmly welcomed all participants. She noted that the university is committed to high-standard educational openness and is continuously building quality international exchange platforms. She encouraged the international students to explore new academic fields alongside SLU peers, interact with classmates from diverse backgrounds, immerse themselves in Shanghai’s dynamic and charming environment, and experience the allure of Chinese culture, ultimately becoming youthful ambassadors of China-foreign civilizational exchange.

Camp representatives and group leaders from Russia, the United States and Denmark then took the stage, expressing their excitement about the journey ahead.

Following the speeches, the university’s Xinghai Arts Troupe presented a vibrant cultural performance featuring traditional instrumental ensembles and folk dances that were met with thunderous applause.
This year’s camp comprises three cohorts:
• “Chinese Bridge” Summer Camp for Foreign Students
• Shanghai Summer School – “Cross-border E-commerce Talent Program”
• “Charming China” U.S. Youth Summer Camp

The combined enrollment is the largest for any inbound program in the university’s history. “Chinese Bridge” is a flagship project of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, Ministry of Education, which SLU has hosted for many consecutive years. The “Cross-border E-commerce Talent Program” is the university’s first Shanghai International Summer School project approved by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. “Charming China” has been selected for the first time to the recommended list of the U.S. Young Envoys Exchange & Study Initiative, entrusted by the China Education Association for International Exchange.

The three cohorts are respectively organized by the International Office, the School of International Economics and Trade, and the School of Financial Technology. Participants will enjoy immersive Chinese-language courses, hands-on traditional-culture workshops, site visits to well-known enterprises, joint activities with SLU students, and excursions to cultural landmarks in Shanghai and surrounding areas.

Responding to President Xi Jinping’s initiative to invite 50,000 young Americans to China over the next five years, SLU is innovating cultural-exchange formats to tell China’s stories and share China’s voice with global youth, thereby building a bridge of friendship for mutual learning. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the Business Confucius Institute at Copenhagen Business Academy. Leveraging this milestone, the university will further expand its international cooperation network, advance international Chinese-language education and people-to-people exchanges, and cultivate the “Study at Lixin” brand. By helping overseas youth gain an authentic, multi-dimensional and comprehensive understanding of China, SLU continues to contribute its wisdom and strength to global civilizational exchange and mutual learning.
