Recently, the Ministry of Education released the results of the 2025 filing and approval process for undergraduate programs at general higher education institutions. The undergraduate program in Data Computing and Applications (Bachelor of Science), jointly proposed by the School of Financial Technology and the School of Statistics and Mathematics, has been officially approved and will begin student enrollment in the fall semester of 2026.

The approval of this program represents an important achievement in the proactive efforts of the Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance (SLU) to serve the national strategy for digital economy development, support the development of Shanghai as an international financial center and a global fintech center, and continuously optimize its academic program portfolio in the fields of new finance and financial technology. In recent years, guided by the principle of serving national strategies and meeting the needs of regional economic and social development, and under the guidance of the Reform Plan for the Adjustment and Optimization of Discipline and Program Offerings in General Higher Education Institutions, SLU has promoted interdisciplinary integration and the development of emerging academic programs, continuously enhancing the alignment between talent cultivation and the evolving needs of industrial development.

The Data Computing and Applications program is designed to address the talent demands arising from the digital transformation of the financial industry and the development of the data factor market, particularly in areas such as data computing, algorithmic modeling, and intelligent analytics. Centered on cultivating strong mathematical foundations and computational capabilities, and driven by applications in financial data, the program focuses on developing interdisciplinary science professionals equipped with solid foundations in mathematics and statistics, strong competencies in data modeling and algorithm implementation, and familiarity with financial application scenarios. The program aims to provide talent support for the implementation of China’s national strategies on big data and AI development.
