SLU places great importance on enhancing faculty teaching capabilities and advancing innovation in classroom teaching reform. It has consistently regarded high-level teaching competitions as an important driving mechanism and continues to build a professional, multi-dimensional empowerment platform for faculty teaching development. The university-level competition for this edition officially commenced in October 2025, with the competition process spanning nearly six months. Through overall coordination, careful planning, and systematic implementation, SLU established a three-tier cultivation and selection framework consisting of preliminary selection at the college level, university-level competition, and municipal-level selection. Through multiple rounds of rigorous evaluation and merit-based selection, seven outstanding faculty members were ultimately nominated for the municipal competition from among 35 excellent teachers recommended by schools and colleges across SLU.

During the competition preparation period, SLU leadership paid close attention to progress and made multiple visits to the front line to conduct research and provide guidance, helping to chart the direction of teaching innovation. SLU specially invited senior experts in education and teaching from Shanghai and other provinces and municipalities, as well as distinguished national competition award-winning educators, to regularly organize dozens of comprehensive, refined, and high-quality preparatory activities, including thematic training sessions, intensive teaching workshops, and one-on-one mentoring. These efforts provided strong support for participating faculty members during the final preparation stage. Meanwhile, colleges and schools across SLU focused on addressing key challenges in classroom teaching, using competition as a means to promote both teaching and research. Closely adhering to the student-centered educational philosophy, they continuously restructured new ecosystems for teaching and learning, optimized talent cultivation models, and achieved deep integration between teaching competitions and routine educational practice.

SLU will take this competition as an opportunity to fully leverage its demonstration and radiating effects, promote outstanding teaching practices and experiences, and continuously enhance the quality and effectiveness of classroom teaching as well as the quality of talent cultivation, thereby laying a solid foundation for SLU’s high-quality, connotative development.
