SLU Kicks off Employment Services for 2021 Graduates

On the morning of July 7, SLU held the 2021 Graduate Employment Services Mobilization Kick-off Meeting & the 2021 Counselor Training Exchange Meeting at Student Center of Pudong Campus. Wang Junhua, Vice Chair of the University Council and Vice President of SLU, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The deputy secretaries of the CPC Committees of the SLU schools, the counselors for the 2021 graduates, and the staff of the Admission and Employment Office attended the meeting. Wang Shuzhen, director of the Admission and Employment Office, presided over the meeting.


Wang Junhua pointed out that employment is the foundation of people's livelihood and social stability. As COVID-19 prevention and control becomes part of everyday life, we must ensure the continuous employment guidance & services. Employment is not only a manifestation of the results of professionals development, but also an important link of education. In offering employment services, it is necessary to combine the cultivation of professional skills and expertise in students, the improvement of their employability and education, guidance, and assistance for their employment. Employment services should by no means be the final decisive shot attempted only at the time graduation. It is necessary to identify in advance the goals and tasks of the  employment services for the Class of 2021, follow up on changes in the employment situation, and make full use of new policies; implement employment initiatives, establish in advance a “one policy for one student” employment assistance account, and focus on and fully promote the employment of special groups; make full use of the holidays to start the internship services for the 2021 graduates as soon as possible, and give full play to the role of peer education to fully assist the2021 graduates in their job search and employment.

 

At the meeting, Shen Jie, deputy director of the Admission and Employment Office, conveyed the guidelines of the Shanghai Employment Services Video Conference, requesting that efforts be maintained for helping the unemployed graduates of 2020 who have already left SLU while planning the employment services for the 2021 graduates in a timely manner, and that the true employment data must be kept. She presented in detail the Targeted Employment Guidance & Assistance Program for the 2021 Graduates and the employment service workflow.


Representatives of the faculty from the School of Accounting, the School of Finance, the School of Business Administration, and the School of Information Management shared their best practices and ideas on how to promote graduates employment and comprehensively ensure employment by mobilizing all resources available.
