Completion Ceremony for the 2019 Ethnic Minority Preparatory Class

On the afternoon of July 13th, SLU held the Completion Ceremony for the 2020 Ethnic Minority Preparatory Class (Course Completion in 2020) at the Pudong Campus Student Activity Center. The Ceremony was conducted both offline and online (live streaming). The Party and administration staff of the School of Humanities and Arts, Zhang Minjian (the secretary of the general Party branch of the School of Information Management), Wang Bo (the undersecretary of the CPC Committee Students Affairs Department; administrative work), Zhu Xiaoxiao (the undersecretary of the CPC Committee Students Affairs Department; also the presenter of the Ceremony), Wang Meng (the vice director of the Teaching Affairs Office), Li Dongxu (the vice director of the Admission and Employment Office) and Wei Kangjing (acting secretary of the Youth League Committee) attended the offline Ceremony. At the same time, the departments of SLU, the Schools to receive the preparatory students, the teachers and students of the School of Humanities and Arts, and all the students of the 2019 Ethnic Minority Preparatory Course Class watched the Ceremony in the cloud. The Ceremony was presided over by Xu Xiaoqing (the deputy dean of the School of Humanities and Arts).

The Ceremony started with the solemn national anthem song. Wang Junhua (Vice Chair of the University Council and Vice President) expressed his warm congratulations to the students who successfully completed their course through the Cloud Review& Cloud Blessing video. He fully recognized the students’ study and life performance during the preparatory year, and highly praised their outstanding performance in actively fighting the epidemic, donating money and materials, persisting in taking online classes, and overcoming difficulties during the special period. He hoped that, in the following undergraduate studies, the students would continue to maintain learning enthusiasm, carry forward the spirits of fighting the epidemic, and strive to be the youth with strong ideals and beliefs in the new era. He would meet with the students in SLU in September.

Huang Min (the secretary of the general Party branch of the School of Humanities and Arts) reviewed the supports from the CPC Committee, relevant functional departments and the Schools in the student cultivation, went over the unforgettable moments of the students’ growth, introduced the work of the School of Humanities and Arts as the practitioner in managing the cultivation of the students, and expressed the developmental prospects for the preparatory students. Yao Huilan (the deputy dean for administrative work and deputy secretary of the School of Humanities and Arts) sent greeting messages to the students, hoping them soar in the blue sky like young eagles, stand at the forefront of the tide, and move forward with happiness and dreams in the ever-changing era. Zhang Minjian (the secretary of the general Party branch of the School of Information Management), on behalf of the receiving Schools, welcomed the preparatory students who would be majored in different undergraduate programs, and expected them to gather the wisdom and strength for the following new journey and to integrate their youth dreams into the Chinese Dream. Abuduxukuer Abulimi as the representative of the preparatory students expressed his gratitude to SLU, and said that he would continue to study hard, improve his body and mind, feel grateful to the Party and the government, and repay the society.

At the Ceremony, Chen Songli (the deputy secretary and deputy dean of the School of Humanities and Arts) and He Shuang (the deputy dean) also presented tie-dye scarves made by the School teachers to the students as a souvenir. Excellent preparatory student cadres and advanced members in the fight against COVID-2019 were also commended, the monitor list for the 2020preparatory classes was announced, and the summer “Praise China” calligraphy and photography activity for ethnic minority students was launched.

The 2019 Ethnic Minority Preparatory Class is the second preparatory class trained by SLU based on a localization mode. All the 77 students successfully completed their studies and will continue their undergraduate studies in 15 different programs of 8 Schools. They will start a new undergraduate journey in September.
