On the afternoon of June 22nd, the Graduation Ceremony and Degree Awarding Ceremony for of 2020 Postgraduates was held in the Administration Building of the Songjiang Campus. Li Shiping (Chair of the University Council), Wang Junhua (Vice Chair of the University Council and Vice President), Gu Xiaomin (Vice President) and Zhu Yabing (Vice President) attended the Ceremony. The research supervisors, the heads of the Graduate Students Office and School of Accounting, and the 2020 postgraduate students attended the Ceremony. Conducted in the form of offline-online “cloud broadcast” combination, the Ceremony was presided over by Gu Xiaomin. About 3000 people watched the Graduation Ceremony through the Internet.
Li Shiping extended his warm congratulations to the 2020 postgraduate students, and expressed his high respect and heartfelt thanks to the supportive parents and the supervisors. He praised the dedication and persistence of the postgraduates, and their actions in practicing the responsibilities and duties in the era. He welcomed the postgraduates to re-visit SLU to take graduation photos after the epidemic. On the occasion of parting, he put forward three expectations for the graduates. First, stay true to the mission, be firm with ideals and beliefs, and build patriotic feelings. He hopes that the students will stick to the mission of the times with their original aspirations for the public, the Party and the people, consciously integrate their future and destiny with the country, nation and society, infuse their patriotic feelings and aspirations of serving the country into the great cause of the reform and development of the motherland and into the great struggle of the people to create history, and contribute wisdom and power to the realization of the Chinese Dream “the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation”. Second, adhere to a strict moral code, make innovations, uphold the spirit of SLU motto, and open up the realm of life. He encouraged the students to transform the SLU motto of “Lixin” (Integrity) and the SLU spirits of “Honesty, Moral Integrity and Humanistic Pragmatism” into their professional ethics. In the growing years, the students should hold the bottom line, defend their conscience, and brighten the “gold lettered signboard” of integrity with practical actions. Third, be determined to work hard, take on the responsibilities, and make contributions to the great era. After that, Li Shiping awarded a master’s degree to every postgraduate student on the spot.
Wang Junhua announced the outstanding master’s theses in 2020, and awarded certificates to the award-winning student and supervisor representatives; Gu Xiaomin announced the decision of awarding the 2020 master’s degree, and presented the commemorative rings to the postgraduate representatives; Zhu Yabing announced the 2020 outstanding postgraduate students, and presented the certificates to the award-winning graduate representatives. Associate Professor Gao Qianshan (a research supervisor) and Huang Jiawei (a student) delivered speeches on behalf of the supervisors and the graduate students respectively.
At the end of the Ceremony, all the graduate students went up to the rostrum and took an oath of integrity: “Never forgetting to establish my integrity, I will definitely achieve success.”
