Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued the Notice on Publishing the 2019 List of Constructing National and Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Programs (JGTH [2021] No. 7), which officially released the 2020 list of constructing first-class undergraduate programs for the “Double 10,000 Plan” (10,000 national and 10,000 provincial first-class undergraduate programs). Two (Financial Engineering and Applied Statistics) and three (Economics, Insurance Science, and Logistics Management) SLU programs have been approved in the construction of national and provincial first-class undergraduate programs, respectively. This is another major breakthrough after SLU was approved in 2019 to construct 4 national and 2 provincial first-class undergraduate programs. Up to now, SLU has 6 national and 4 provincial first-class undergraduate programs (10 in total).

In order to thoroughly implement the spirits of new-era education and revitalize undergraduate education, the Ministry of Education has initiated the “Double 10,000 Plan” to build about 10,000 national and 10,000 provincial first-class undergraduate programs between 2019 and 2021. In 2020, a total of 3,977 national (including 1,387 from the central and 2,590 from the local institutions) and 4,448 provincial first-class undergraduate programs were identified.

From 2021 to 2025, SLU, aiming to build a high-level application-oriented university of finance and economics recognized by the industries with distinctive characteristics, will take integrity as the best policy, develop programs of “new liberal arts” with equal emphasis on both study and experiments, and build a system of comprehensive development for high-level application-oriented talents.
