SLU Proceeds with a Project of Cooperation with the Complutense University of Madrid

On September 22, 2021, the International Office of Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance (SLU) held a meeting on promoting the “3+1” project of cooperation with the Complutense University of Madrid. The meeting was chaired by Vice President of SLU Chen Jie and attended by heads of the Teaching Affairs Office, the School of International Economics and Trade, the School of Information Management, the School of Foreign Languages, and the School of Fintech.

Chen said that SLU placed a solid emphasis on international development and remained committed to opening its education and increasing both quality and efficiency and that it was imperative to adopt an internationalization-driven approach to develop higher-quality talents, expand their international vision, and enhance their competitiveness for employment. The “3+1” project has prominent advantages to offer, such as a time-honored history, high-level governance, a good position in the QS World University Rankings, and a strong academic influence that the Complutense University of Madrid has to provide students with excellent educational resources. The collaboration between the two universities fits well into their respective position as an international university and their respective goal of presenting itself as a leading local university. She required various departments concerned to provide full support to the implementation of the project by coordinating and communicating with one another throughout its implementation. Meanwhile, each schoolshouldbuild on its disciplinary advantages to explore resources, find overseas partners, and enhance specialized cooperation to align international communication with the strategic goal of SLU for building academic disciplines, a team of faculty members, and an international talent pool.


Head of SLU International Office Tu Liping introduced the international development strategy of SLU, its international cooperation and communication in the COVID-19 context, and the progress that had been made for the project based on the general background and leading academic disciplines of the Spanish university. And she also expressed her gratitude for the good preparation and productive engagement of some schools of SLU.


Heads of the School of International Economics and Trade, the School of Information Management, the School of Foreign Languages, and the School of Fintech all spoke of the feasibility of the project in terms of student demands for disciplines, SLU’s alignment with the Complutense University of Madrid for its leading academic discipline, and student employability, and discussed course selection, schedules in various phases of study, internship, and academic certification. The International Office and the Teaching Affairs Office introduced the foreign affairs policies and instructional management requirements as a response to some of the challenges for implementation raised by the heads. Everyone present at the meeting promised to introduce more detailed measures for the project in course selection, internship, thesis, and scholarship based on SLU’s policies, in a bid to create a good environment for the implementation of the project.
