SLU’s First Intercultural Integration Education Practice Base for International Students Inaugurated

On the morning of November 10, the signing and inauguration ceremony of SLU’s first Intercultural Integration Education Practice Base for International Students was held in the Foreign-Educated Chinese Museum (FECM). Prof. Tu Liping, Head of International Office and Dean of School of International Exchange of SLU, Li Xinxin, Executive Director of FECM, the faculty and students of the International Office and the School of International Exchange, and relevant staff of the FECM attended the event.

The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Guo Huijun, Vice Head of International Office and Vice Dean of School of International Exchange of SLU. He introduced the preliminary co-construction of and achievements of—Foreign-Educated Chinese Museum—the first Intercultural Integration Education Practice Base for International Students.

At the inauguration ceremony, Li Xinxin introduced the purpose, development concept and history of FECM and said that after the inauguration of the Practice Base, the FECM would further cooperate with SLU in the talent cultivation, scientific research, social service and cultural inheritance and innovation for international students by building a distinctive practice base and jointly promoting the future cooperation and development.

In her speech, Professor Tu Liping briefly introduced the orientation, the goal of talent training, and the characteristics of disciplines of SLU, as well as the development of the School of International Exchange. She hoped to take the establishment of the Practice Base as an opportunity to further strengthen the exchange and cooperation with the FECM in the fields like talent training, realize the sharing of resources, complementary advantages and win-win cooperation between the both institutions, make good use of the platform of FECM to divulge the Chinese culture and tell Chinese stories, and jointly cultivate high quality international students with integrity, ability, innovativeness and global vision who are knowledgeable and friendly to China.

Tu Liping and Li Xinxin signed the agreement and jointly unveiled the Practice Base. After the ceremony, international students and students of Art Troupe of SLU performed a wonderful cultural performance.

Established in September 2004 in Songjiang District, Shanghai, the Foreign-Educated Chinese (FECM) Museum is the only comprehensive museum for Chinese students educated in foreign countries, dedicated to collecting, researching, displaying and spreading the culture and spirit of foreign-educated Chinese students, with the purpose of serving foreign-educated Chinese students, inheriting their culture and promoting their spirit. The Museum builds a series of service platform for foreign-educated Chinese students featuring retain their roots, serve the motherland and international exchange by holding exhibitions, carrying out activities, and collecting the memories. Events organized by the Museum includes the compilation of the General Collection of Foreign-Educated Chinese Students, the Forum of Foreign-Educated Chinese Students and the International Forum of Curators of Non-State Museums.
